*The Following Information has been provided by Defence Escapes - 17/08/2016*

Should you go into Cruise control on P&O's website be aware it shows only 75% against our Group Booking, this is because of the type of booking and due to some of the members of our group not having completed their final payments.
Defence Escapes will download your Boarding Pass; etc. for you and send these items to you by Express Post - HoweverIf you would rather get the relative paperwork by email instead. And this method would be more convenient due to your travel arrangements, this can be done by ringing Carolyn at Defence Escapes
1300 789 824 . The Hard Copy of your Documents will then be forwarded to the Organising Committee for Collection on arrival at the Ship. Location to be Advised but most likely will be in the Torquay Room.

UPDATE 17/08/2016 - Explanation concerning  "On Board Credit"

The following information is provided in reply to several members enquiries concerning the $100 on board credit.

The short version is that a Group Booking like ours, does not attract certain promotional incentives, including past passenger discounts, any general promo’s and OBC’s including Military. P&O’s reasoning behind this being the number of cabins “blocked out” and specific extras provided to suit our specific SUBCON needs.

Defence Escapes negotiated with P&O for the $100 OBC, which they initially offered to each cabin booked, to be included in our Group Booking as the $100 Military OBC .The offer is limited to the first 2 qualifying members booked into a Cabin.  This was a good win for our Group.

Defence Escapes will advise members of what proof is required to qualify for this bonus.

Please Note: DE have processes in place to ensure all Cabins will receive the OBC as originally promised.

    Update June 2016

Please note:  Even though we are past the listed Cut-off date for making SUBCON Cruise Bookings P&O advise they still have Cabins available, Defence Escapes are able to take further Bookings while these Cabins are available. There is a catch of course, in that Full Payment is required on Booking.  The links to make a booking can be found at the bottom of this SUBCON Page along with Defence Escapes Contact phone number.

Polo Shirts, Caps and Patches with the SUBCON Logo can be ordered at the following link and will also be available for purchase on the MV Pacific Aria https://saaqld.wildapricot.org/page-1773236 . We will be posting some better pictures of the stock on offer once we receive delivery.

Unfortunately all attempts to gain Sponsorship for this event have failed, to date. The Organising Committee will be holding a Raffle to assist with the costs of hosting this event. A full list with pictures of prizes and ticket sale options will be placed on the SUBCON site, along with a possible link on ‘Up Periscope’ in early July.

The Cruise is fast approaching, Defence Escapes are busy processing final payments and Booking's with P&O, and the committee is busy with the Host's specific tasks.

Now is the time if you have any Questions or Special Needs on the Cruise to raise them so there is plenty of time to address them.

**Please Refer to the Contact List at the bottom of this page.**

    Update April 2016

The following information has been put together by the Organising committee to assist you in planning your activities during the Cruise. No doubt there are experienced cruising members who will already be aware of this information but for novice cruisers it should be of some help. The organising committee’s Walk around on Pacific Aria hosted by P&O was very informative,  entertainment  facilities cabins etc. have all been refurbished. Plenty of Bars to catch-up with mates and a broad range of Dining choices. The Staff we spoke to were very helpful and courteous, the Pool deck has everything you could want and no doubt will prove to be a very popular meeting point.

A Draft Itinerary has been included in this update to give you an idea of when SUBCON Events are planned during the cruise so you can plan your free time around them.  Please Note the SUBCON Dinner night is yet to be confirmed by P&O. There will be two Formal Dining nights on the cruise, the SUBCON Dinner will be  one of these and will be held in the Water Front Restaurant. A (2) hour drinks package will be provided with the SUBCON Dinner. Our Group will be allocated a section (the majority) of the restaurant to allow for our needs.  The Farewell breakfast will also be held in this venue. These two events are the only Group dining events.

All other meals are your choice, you have the following venues available for dining with your friends or as a group. Reservation details for Dragon Lady, Angelos & Salt Grill restaurants along with all other restaurant opening times are shown in the PACIFIC  Daily information sheet. These sheets are readily available throughout the Ship.

The Pantry : Has replaced the Buffet. It offers interactive food court style dining through a range of individual outlets, in a relaxed café setting. Enjoy Mexican, Fish & Chips, Curries, Stir- fries and incredible Desserts.

Water Front :  Enjoy classic and cutting edge Australian cuisine in a plush, modern surrounding inspired by natural Australia.

Angelos : Offers upscale Italian dining with a modern charm. Fixed Menu  Dinner - Reservation reqd.

There are many Bars throughout the Ship, The Blue Room has live music all day and the Bar is ideal for a pre- dinner drink with friends.

The  Pool Deck caters for food and drinks at several outlets. Note a nominal charge applies at some of these outlets.

The following extracts are from the PACIFIC Daily information sheet.

Swipe and Go  Your ‘cruise card’ is the Key to your room and to many services on board. It is also the only method of payment on board. Please treat it like a credit card to avoid wrong charges to your account. On certain occasions, you may be asked to sign for your Purchase.

Credit &Debit Card Spending on Board  P&O Cruises use a “pre authorisation”  system to charge credit and debit cards for on board spending. This system places a hold on your credit or debit card. Your Bank does not actually release any money to us; instead the process ensures that our guests do not spend more than their available funds. At the end of your cruise your on board spend (plus 1.5% service fee for credit cards) will be charged in one transaction, and the holds will then be released.

Please note, some banks hold pre-authorised funds for up to 30 days limiting the funds available in your debit or credit account. We strongly recommend you check your bank’s pre-authorisation process if you have any concerns about this system. By electing to use your credit or debit card, you are automatically registered for Express Check- out. This means there is no need for you to visit the Reception to settle your account; an itemised statement will be delivered to your room on the morning of disembarkation for review.

Medical Services   See information sheet for Office hours or dial 000 to speak to the duty nurse.

There is a Fee levied for all consultations and an additional fee for out of office hours.

Important Notice to Smokers   Smoking is STRICTLY PROHIBITED in doors, including rooms, suites and private balconies. Smoking is permitted in the designated areas on Deck 6 starboard side (right hand side) AFT & deck 12 starboard side FWD. A $300 cleaning Fee will be added to your on board account if we find evidence of smoking in your room.

This time we plan to do things just a little differently and invite you to leave your worries and troubles at home and be prepared to join in the holiday fun. At the request of the members attending SUBCON 2013 and confirmed by a survey of 800 members nationally, SUBCON 2016 will be celebrated AT SEA on board the P&O Cruise Ship Pacific Aria

Included in the festivities will be the inaugral Boat of Origin Games, where submariners and their partners will compete in a series of extreme games such as Quoits, Toss the Thong, Table Tennis, Three-legged Race and other surprise events for totally valueless prizes, representing their first Australian submarine (US, UK and other service members will compete in a single team representing The Rest Of The World).

As our theme is one of fun and relaxation, you are encouraged to come prepared to lay back and think of Mother England while the rest of the world struggles to get through yet another week of unrecognised toil in the slave mines.

You are encouraged to bring your Dinner Suit or S4/S5 Uniform  for one formal black tie dinner, however the dress of the day for the rest of the trip is tropical kit.

We are sure that you will enjoy your time with us and look forward to SUBCON 2016 with great anticipation.
